Monica Zane

About the Artist

I like to watch nature working its rhythms into our lives...and I hope to dive in every chance I get, so I might be rewarded with simple truths and exhilarating rides that I can make my own way in...and somehow, staying in cooperation with that wave and riding to the very end, has always brought the potential for me to begin back again at that initial impulse, back to that next wave, back again into nature’s rhythms, and any willingness to play.

I am self-taught so finding new questions about the process, and allowing any expression that comes from that has made art a matter of intention...I have found that if I discover a strong reason why I am doing anything, it will feed the passions to fuel my life.

Monica Zane began a career in the arts with a 2-year dance scholarship at The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center that led to working in the theatre. For 2 years she toured Europe with the musical “Cats” (in German and English) playing the role of “Demeter.” She spent a few years singing (in French, Italian and English) in an orchestra in Monte Carlo and as a soloist singer/dancer in some of their productions. She has sung in various Jazz clubs and restaurants in NYC and wrote, produced and starred in a One-Woman Show that had a run at The Grove St. Playhouse, The Bowery Poetry Club, and The Cape May Theatre. Throughout her travels and extensive theater and film work, she has continued to paint showing her artwork in Galleries along the East Coast, in benefits, and in the homes of over a hundred commissioned portraits.
