"My art isn’t clever or
symbolic. I hope it’s human and emotional. And well done."
Upon seeing his work, critics and
collectors alike are comparing Malcolm Liepke’s imagery to that of Degas,
Sargent, Whistler and other classic artists. Liepke considers his work,
"an endless process of growing, of defining my vision, refining my craft,
and producing work I hope will be timeless." And timeless they are.
Liepke’s original lithographs, paintings and drawings are created with a
humanity and vision that celebrates the common man. Raised in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, Liepke decided to attend the Art Center College in Los Angeles,
California. However, a hunger for classical training rather than the
conceptual ideas being taught, eventually drew him to New York where he
studied the works of Velazquez, Whistler, Chase, Vullivard, Sorolla and
others. These artists became Liepke’s heroes and inspired the classical
imagery found in his work today.
